I orefer not to drive to nikon service in el segundo - easier to carefully bubble wrap and throw some popcorn in the box and fedex. you might want to check out the nikon support website where you can submit the service form on-line, print it out, then send in a copy in with the cam body, without having to sit on your phone. You are right that nikon doesn't want you to clean the sensor yourself. But I would suggest you practice dry and wet cleaning of your D600 sensor while it is still under warranty, since you will need to know how to clean the sensor frequently in the out-of-warranty near future. good luck.
