There are no "silly" nikonian threads in my humble opinion. The collective "wisdom" here is very effective. I have had shutter mechanism oil issues with F5's and F6's. But at least with 35mm film bodies, one can blast off a full 36 exp roll on the 5 or 6 and only have shutter oil on a few frames. And one can also examine the shutter from the front and the back for oil residue when the 35mm camera back is opened and the shutter is inspected. But this shutter oil issue is additive for the Fx DSLR's and makes it a huge issue - unless you have the right tools and chemistry to clean off the oil?
