Both are priced right. The D600 is more than "Good Enough" and a real bargain. The D800 is worth $900 more. I am real glad that you got "Hands On". That is the most important thing as you have to be able to use the camera optimally.
I now have the D7000, D600, and D800. The D600 does not "feel" as small and light as I expected. The D800 is the best camera (for my use) that I have ever had.
