I did a little checking on a AT&T route server, and photoshelter is connected to the Internet via a BGP connection with a Sprint router in Kansas City to an Nlayer router in Chicago, with the webserver being located in New York City, (if the NSlookup for Photoshelter is any guide). If Jim is in New York, say with Verizon, then he is going from New York to Kansas City to Chicago and then back to New York City. The latency alone can make the file transfer times double.
