Be geesus! lots of excellent info, thank you everyone

Brian, I'll go back through my profile when I get some spare time and fill in more. I do like low light photography, which is one of the reasons to look at the D600. I would always appreciate an improvement in higher ISO capability.
I am nowhere near any sort of limit in my photography ability using my current gear, apart from occasionally wanting high ISO to be cleaner, but again my technique could improve too.
I do want to do some courses at some point, but prefer to understand things a bit more, as little knowledge often hinders your understanding of further knowledge. I both learn and teach in courses in our industry, and I find in this field the more I know, the more I learn with a peer. And ditto to teaching, working with someone that knows some of their skill tends to be very rewarding as you can see their better comprehension of the curriculum.
So, soon
And a good thread on this board can often seem like a mini course, thanks everyone!

Eric, thank you for your comments too, and I have always regarded your pics highly
I have recently bought the 50mm and 70-200mm with FX in mind. The 70-200 I wanted regardless, mostly for sports. The 50 was a bit of an unnecessary, but it was cheap, and I've gotten to like it a lot

Polarpics, the extra reach of the 7100 definitely does call me. It's one thing that puts a cross against the 600, I would loose at least 100mm on the long end. Not a biggy, but it is there

BGD600, thanks, it does give me a bit to think about. I may prefer FX too, if I go there

Mwhals, I don't have a real specific reason to go to FX, just that it's there and is different and others love and prefer it. Greener grass??

Jesse, as mentioned above, low light is one of my loves in photography, mostly architecture at night time. And I have become accustomed to sd cards and two slots

Brian, I understand the purpose in your pics (great by the way!!)
I wrote down my pics before I went to work this morning, and I checked them against jesse and I'm mostly different
I felt FX are pics 1,4,7 and 9 with the rest being DX

Prices for me to buy are as follows
D7000 $799
D7100 $1210
D600 $1677
D800 $2506
D800e $2982

It's why my choices are D7100 or D600
D7000 is, to me, not advancing
D7100 is
D600 is advancing and trying something different, while still being user friendly to me
D800 getting costly, and perhaps more tech than I need/want, at this point
D800e more of the above

My sensible side really has always decided on the D7100, but my 'what the hell get the D600' side has been annoying me lately, and won't go away

I'm heading back up to Darwin in a month or so and would like to have a bit of time up my sleeve with the new body, so will decide in the next week or so

Thanks all

Michael
