Yes, the D600 allows you to either gray out the area outside the DX crop, or leave it clear and just use the black outline, which sports photographers prefer. It works exactly like the D800. Just set Custom Setting a4 (AF Point illumination) to Off.

If you want to fill your view with the cropped image, use Live View. The D600 fills the LCD with the DX crop (no "grayed out" area), also exactly like the D800.
