If you are reformatting using the menu, you need to select each card individually. BE sure to select OK to confirm formatting. It will ask for confirmation to erase all images and reformat.

If you are using the two button reformat on the camera body, it only reformat's the primary card. You can remove a card from the camera and I think it will reformat the remaining card.
