The file size tables are on page 334 (FX mode) and 335 (DX mode) in the English manual and show sizes for "lossless compressed" and "compressed" for both 12-bit and 14-bit. Page 94 shows how to set the compression method on the Shooting menu:
NEF (RAW) recording -> Type -> Lossless compressed or Compressed

My D200 had only uncompressed or lossy compressed for RAW images, so Nikon has changed this over the years. On the D600, lossless compression reduces file size by "20-40% with no effect on image quality", and lossy compression reduces file size by "35-55% with ALMOST no effect on image quality."
