I think it's a matter of taste, and personally I prefer warm images.

I made the adjustment when I was still using Aperture (i was warming almost evert shot) and even though I am now using LR4 I find I don't alter WB much now (I still have the adjustment set at A3!)

It was the same with the D300, though I found the D200 auto WB bang-on generally speaking, and a part of me still misses the overall colour rendition of the D200.
