Based on these pictures, I would say it works, but it doesn't work well. In some situations the vignetting may be OK, in others not and probably uncorrectable.
It is a DX lens, and you are trying to get it to do something it wasn't designed to do. I guess if you already own one and want to work around the limitations (like not using the full frame of your full frame camera), it is a cost conscious thing to do.
But given that mostly we seem to prefer lenses with minimal light fall-off and good corner to corner sharpness, the FX 2.0D isn't all that expensive.
