The D600 is an excellent camera and a great choice, but I wouldn't react too much to the 36MP of the D800/D800e. I've heard the same concerns about high megapixels with the 10MP D200 vs. the 6MP D70, the 12MP D2X vs. the 6MP cameras, and the 24MP D3x vs. everything else . These days, the 24MP of the D600 is apparently comfortable and easy to manage whereas it was a severe problem with the D3x. When I posted threads about handholding that camera, people were horrified that I would do such a thing. Now, it's fine. In my experience, none of these cameras have been or are problems to use due to their resolution. Sloppy photography hurts you with any of them. Tripods, good technique and good lenses help with all of them.
