Thanks Mick and Leonard
Food for thought.
To move from Aperture would be pretty radical though I will keep it in mind and maybe try Photo Mechanic. I like the sound of the way it interprets NEFs. but I am not sure I want to devote too much time to learning new programs that might better be spent behind a lens or walking the dog. So I will probably not leave Aperture until Aperture 4 arrives, or it becomes clear that it won't arrive.
It is also, I suspect an issue that Aperture is not the easiest program from which to emerge. And I don't relish having two distinct databases.
I will also see how I could get View or Capture NX2 better integrated with an Apple workflow.
Most of my Nik licenses cover use only as plug-ins with Lightroom and Aperture so most of the above would be a major step, in terms of dollars and learning curves.
Maybe I should learn to love the natural vignettes on FX. After all I often add it in PP so in many cases do you even want to take it out!
