Mel,

Eric provided the following URL demonstrating proper cleaning techniques in another thread:

There are many other YouTube videos demonstrating sensor cleaning.

VisibleDust has great products. The key is to learn the proper techniques.

Here are a few points:

Do not use compressed canned air. These contain lubricants in the propellent that can foul a sensor. Instead use a bulb blower. Some of these are specifically designed for sensor cleaning.

Begin with a fully charged battery so that the mirror and shutter do not unexpectedly drop while you have a brush inside the camera's chamber due to a lack of power. The D100 required the optional electrical power adapter to clean its sensor, so check your camera's manual to see the proper procedure.

Never let a sensor cleaning brush touch anything but a sensor. Do not let a brush even touch the inside chamber of the camera or the outer edge of the sensor. If a brush is dirty or dropped on the floor, there are liquid sensor brush cleaning solutions.

Only use the wet cleaning method when necessary. Eric said that a wet cleaning is required only 5 percent of time based on statistics compiled by LensRentals.com.
