I can answer the first question. If you set the remote control mode in the Shooting Menu to 2s delayed remote, when you press the button on the ML-L3 the camera will focus, and then two seconds later the mirror will go up and the shutter will release without further delay. If you set the remote control mode to remote mirror-up, then when you press the button on the ML-L3, the camera will focus and the mirror will raise. You then press the button a second time to release the shutter.
