"weak gridlines"

Have had the D600 for several days and I don't know what is normal. My grid lines are very thin and hard for me to see. When I press shutter release half way a small portion of the grid lines flash red for an instant.

Is there some way to keep the lines red as long has shutter in half depressed or make the lines more visible? I was at an event this past weekend and guy with a Cannon had very heavy lines that were very visible and could use in live view too.
