Well, of course, that WOULD work INDOORS, so would buying a 28mm 1.8 or 1.4, but I was limited (at least in my mind) as I have made a huge jump up from a D80, which I am very used to shooting to avoid cropping whenever possible. Your reply "broadens my mental horizons", so to speak, for which you have my thanks. Still, here I was shooting at 24mm and STILL couldn't shoot with the focus point on her eye without recomposing.
However, I do wish the focus point were wider in the frame. They are not, and since I adore this body, I will not grouse about this; and simply posted an actual user answer to a question I see frequently posted hypothetically about the D600.
This is the first time since Sept 19 that I have wished for a wider focal point spread. BTW: the "outer" points focused accurately and did not "hunt", even on the 50mm 1.4G, which is prone to hunting in low light on other bodies.
