I was one of the "silly" who recently bought a D700 prior to the launch..

one word - Wow !!!

I'm coming from a D7k and I find the feel in my hand, the new set up of ISO, Mode, WB, etc on the top of the camera a very nice to have...

From what I've seen and read, it appears the D600 is a D7K with a FX processor...

I am fine with my D7K as my backup...but, as another poster mentioned, to have a D600 as my second camera for (Live) shooting with the different controls, while not a major issue, I find the D700 to meet 90% of my requirements (mostly portraits)....

If I need a few extra pixels...I can go to the D7k, but, find my 700 has really improved the quality of my shots...

The one nice to have is the backup..but, I find that I just change my cards more often during a normal shoot..it only takes 20 seconds to pop out one and pop in another.
