"RE: D600 for sports"
Well, I found an instance where a change from standard/old Nikon to the D600 has affected me a bit:1/200 synch speed. As I mentioned, I shoot horse shows and rodeos. I took the D600 out for its first spin in the arena since I got it last weekend.I am shooting a 3-day series of Barrel Races in a covered arena this weekend, so the woman I shoot for and I set up some Alien Bees to cover the part of the arena where I'm focusing the shots. As you know, to help assure sharp images, the rule of thumb is the 1/XXX for the shutter speed, where XXX is the focal length you're shooting at.I use an 80-200 f/2.8 AF-D lens, so when racked out at 200mm, shutter speed needs to be 1/200 or higher.Given that the synch speed is 1/200, I am right at the edge where blur can be an issue, esp since the lens has no VR to help out.I was using my boss' Canon 1Dx for part of the shoot, and the images I got from her camera were much sharper...synch 1/250 and a 70-200 lens with Image Stabilization both helped. So, if the synch speed were 1/250, that might have helped a bit. I can't say whether that would have helped more than having a VR lens would, though.
