the unit basically allows you to either take a photo or view photos that are still in your camera via the utility (i.e., app) from your mobile device. When taking a photo it essentially enables live view on your device and allows you to press the shutter release remotely. However, if you choose the option to "download immediately" after taking a picture, be prepared to wait several seconds for the image to appear on the device. Also, when in "view picture" mode, it will take several seconds for all the images on your SD card to load but once they're loaded you can select those that you specifically want to save to your camera roll and work on it further from there by pulling it into any apps you have on your device. I think the key advantage is getting a larger view of your images (if you're using an ipad) than what you'd see from the LCD screen.
