While there may be instances where a faster sync speed may be needed, there are also cameras that have that. I think the target of the D600 is for FX entry level consumers or FX users looking for a smaller lighter body - lets face it, the D4, D3, D800, D700 are rather large bodies. A smaller lighter body will need to have a reduced feature set and for the majority of users, a 1/200 sync will be fine. For the few that need to have faster sync, there are other bodies available. If a manufacturer were to add every gee-whizz-bang feature onto entry level products, who would buy the higher end products?
