I'm a fairly heavy flash user, and I still use a D100 a moderate amount. (It doesn't have a shutter actuation counter... heh...) While I definitely can't say that have never bumped into the flash sync limit of 1/180th, I can say that there aren't very many times that it's a problem when 1/250th isn't also a problem. Yes, there have been times, but frankly not too many. It really is a pretty small special case gap. You have to be in enough light that 1/200th is slow enough to cause smear, while little enough that the flash can cover the difference.
Would I want the faster sync? Sure. Would it be a show stopper? Not for me, even without considering that I have other bodies that do better.
