They are super shots, and it looks like a delightful evening. I had seen those pictures elsewhere and wondered if this was your new lens in action.
I have a 50mm f/1.4 already. I used to have a f/1.2 and loved it until it was stolen. The insurance claim funded the 17-55mm so life goes on... It is on my list of lenses that I rather want, and I believe it is still in production. As much as I am enjoying MF with my wider primes it would be rather harder with the 50mm f/1.2. Anyhow that base is covered.
I agree that the Nikkor 20-35mm makes little sense as it simply recovers existing bases, so something wider (ie the Tokina or Nikkor f/4 zooms) is maybe the logical place to look... though If that means that the 20mm f/2.8mm AIS becomes unused then that would be a shame - as it is, by the way, an astonishingly good lens. I am also pleasantly surprised with early results from the 28mm f/3.5 AI.
Moreover I am very tempted by that new Sigma 35mm f/1.4, and so logic may well end up coming second.
