My situation is very similar to yours. I have a D7000, the 17-55mm and the 12-24mm. When the D600 was announced I thought I would sell my D7000 and DX lenses to buy a D600. Today on Craigslist, where I live(Mpls/St.Paul), there are 12 D7000s for sale. So it may not be very easy to sell the camera. There are also two 17-55mms for sale. They are asking about $750 - $800 for the D7000 body only and about $900 for a 17-55mm. Assuming the 12-24mm is worth about $600, selling both lenses and my D7000 would bring about $2300 ... not quite enough to pay for a D600 and a kit lens. I am also worried that I would not be happy with the 24-85mm kit lens since the 17-55mm is my favorite lens. I think I would really miss the constant 2.8 aperture. If I bought the D600 body and a 24-70mm F/2.8, I would need to spend about $3800.00. So right now, as much as I would love a D600, I just can't justify the expense.
