I even had an incident in a sporting event where it impacted my shooting with a D700. I was shooting a high school track meet and trying to get a different look on a state champ discus thrower by shooting from the lower edge of the safety net -- camera inside and me outside -- at 6 fps and the kid asked me not to do so anymore as it disturbed his concentration. He was a very nice young man who I know quite well and actually said he felt bad asking me to stop! But I quit. It's too bad you can lock the mirror up for such times. There is little so loud as a camera shutter in a pregnant pause, especially several clicks!
