The reports that a broken frame renders the camera irreparable still does not make sense. To do anything internal to the camera requires disassembly of the outer case which is the main support for the internals, so it removing the case sections is very routine tasks done every day by every tech. There is an internal metal and plasic "frame" but is well protected by the magnesium outer rigid case. The mirror box and main processor boards are supported by that internal attachment frame and it is a common repair to deal with the items attached to that.
An independent shop which is not motivated to sell a new camera, is probably happy to take on the task.
