As to the batteries they do recall, I can only speculate that they represented a monetary liability. They would catch on fire or such. Disposable items going bad don't represent a risk.

I'm thinking the fault is in the battery, but it would be nice to stick one in a few different bodies. That wouldn't prove it was a problem with the body, if it is the body and all bodies misread that battery.
