I have just noticed something very peculiar on my D800. I had just switched out a battery which showed 1 bar in the top display with a freshly charged battery into the battery grip compartment. I decided to check the battery within the body as well.
When I selected battery information, up came the 2 rectangles showing the condition of each battery. BUT while the little battery just below each rectangle said "NEW," the age indicator inside the rectangle said 3 for this just freshly charged battery. This is strange because this battery was one of two I purchased with the camera in late August.
Recently I purchased two additional batteries which I have not yet used--still in the box. Just out of curiosity I opened one of them and put it into the grip compartment. This battery also showed an age of 3.
This is very surprising because I used 5 EN-EL3 batteries with my D300s, rotating them. And they still show as NEW and age 0.
Have I a problem with the way my D800 is reading battery information?
