The two menu settings you need to check are:
Playback/Rotate-tall
Setup/Auto-Image-Rotation

I prefer Playback/Rotate-tall set to "off" so that the image is bigger since the long side of the image stays on the long side of the LCD.

It might be possible that stuff in the Retouch menu might change this setting for individual pictures, but I have never played with any of those settings.
