Not really. There isn't any data to support such a statement - quite the opposite actually.

Not really. Every current data transfer test comparing camera-to-computer and card reader-to-computer using the same port and interface shows that the SanDisk and Lexar USB 2.0 HiSpeed and USB 3.0 readers (among others) win every time. By comparison, wired and wireless camera interfaces are notoriously slow for data transfer. The only thing faster than the USB 3 card readers is a direct Thunderbolt data transfer. Good for Apple.
