With your lens mounted, once in the menu, if the starting point is say "0", you can't do anything bad. If you try an adjustment that proves insufficient or overdone, just correct again is the other direction.
There is a little bit of fiddling required here but you cannot damage anything. If you are ultimately unhappy, just bring it back to zero, save and you will be at the same point. If you do find your happiness however, save and leave the menu.
A couple of my lenses were not performing the expected way (85mm ƒ1,4 for one), I had to do it myself and now all my lenses are giving me predictable results.
I would gladly see some pictures done before the adjustment. And after, of course!
