Go take some photographs!

I'd find some decent subjects that would be fairly easy to see IQ (lines, well defined edges, details) yet be very similar to subjects I might shoot. Then I would shoot these with AF Tune on and set to -8 and another set with AF Tune off. Compare the two sets and see which appear to be better. I would then use the appropriate Fine Tune setting.
