Howard has some very good insight on this. Stay away from picket swinging protesters! Using the SB900 as a benchmark to evaluate the loads created by the monitor seems like very sound logic to me. But as Howard pointed out, there may be forces other than gravity to consider, depending on the environment you're shooting in.
