"D800 First Shots Low Light Handheld"
Hi and Happy Holidays.Today was day one of my new D800. I already have a D700. I shoot mostly concerts and some landscape/street stuff.I struggled with the choice of another D700 or D600/800.I knew what I already had in low light performance with the D700 and knew either the D600 or D800 would be a step up in high iso performance.I did become a little anxious about all the conversations about the D800 being a challenging camera to use handheld in low light.Well, tonight's first shots was a series of existing light shots of holiday lights and my outside lanterns.Camera was set to manual, ISO 500, RAW, No focus assist light, AF 51 points, High ISO NR set to Low.Lens Nikkor 70-200mm 2.8 VR II VR set to 'On'.no tripod, no bracing. Most of you on this board are much more savvy and experienced with this stuff, this is just my efforts to convince me that this camera is not too much of a challenge. Thanks RoccoYour gonna miss 100% of the shots you never take, so keep shooting.Visit www.roccosphototavern.comThere's Something For Everybody At Rocco's Photo Tavern.Performance, Landscape, Portrait, Street, Creative and more.
