I am finding Nikon service to be almost impossible to deal with. They sent me a 24-70mm lens back from repair that was not fully repaired. When I called them, they wanted photos to prove the problem. After I uploaded the JPEG images, I never heard back from them for four days so I called. I got a girl on the phone who knew nothing about a DSLR. Finally after about 20 minutes of me trying to explain the issue, she transferred me to a DSLR specialist.
He had not looked at my uploaded images, so he had to do that while I waited. He quickly concluded that the lens was not repaired properly. Now I have to wait for a shipping label e-mail from Nikon repair before I send the lens back. By the time I get the lens properly repaired, it will be with a loss of service of two months!
During all of this, I concluded that my AF is no longer working properly on my D800e...so I had to go through another discussion with the same DSLR specialist. Now I have to send the D800e in to Melville.
Darn good thing that I have two D800e bodies and multiple lens. Otherwise, I would be SOL...and finding something else to do with my spare time.
