Thanks. My experience was exactly the opposite (although its all relative to expectations and experience). I took the GP1 on a two week road trip from LA to Moab, Grand Tetons and back down the Eastern Sierras. I found it performed extremely well, especially compared to my experience with Promote GPS. It seemed to take a little time to acquire when first fired up for the day. But throughout my day of shooting and driving, it never held me back. I can't say the same for the Promote GPS which always left me waiting.
That said, I have experience with only a few GPS units and not necessarily the ones discussed here so it may be the case that some are much faster. By comparison, I was so happy with the GP1 on this trip (completely usable, IMHO) that I'm done shopping around. But it's good to read this thread and get a sampling of what's out there. I'd love to see some blog do a head-to-head.
