Forgive me if someone has already mentioned this. Cameras vary somewhat from one to another. I am not familiar with the D7000, but the D300 has a built-in exposure compensation in the menus. Using a gray card, you can set the histogram exactly to the center, and this setting will stay for all shots until you change it. This takes out any under- or over-exposure questions, and, of course, is much simpler than dialing in compensation every time. Does the D7000 have this capability?
