There's not much to add to this discussion except that I concur with you that the D7000 is truly impressive and accurate. If there are exposure issues don't sweat it took much, just switch to manual and adjust your settings appropriately to get a good exposure. After all, we do get instant feedback in this digital age! Most experienced photographers probably do this manipulation intuitively without thinking too heavily (I know I do this) and get great photos in PP. As noted many times in these forums, nothing takes the place of practice, practice, practice. Photography can compel you to keep learning for a long time.
