I received my MB-D11 today and I must say I'm very pleased. It makes the camera feel solid, comfortable and centered without adding too much weight, yet just enough.
RRRoger - I can understand where you're coming from, in regards to what you're comfortable with, and that's your personal preference, rightfully. The camera with the grip is much easier to hold for me. I no longer feel like I'm pinching the camera with my right hand fingers, fighting to level the camera body because it is left/front heavy, weary to move my fingers/thumb to access buttons. With the grip the camera sits in my whole hand, feeling more centre balanced, whichever orientation it's in. The heaviest lens I have at this time is my 105mm F/2.8 and handheld it holds up very well with the grip, even though I will mainly shoot this lens from my tripod. (when it's delivered!)
The grip is very simple and quick to remove so I can't see it being an inconvenience when charging is required.
KnightPhoto - The MB-D11 has a recess to store the D7000 contact cover, however there is no storage for the MB-D11 contact cover.
I'm very happy with the changes the grip makes to my camera, it will will rarely be unattached.
