Statements like this could use a little more explanation. What do you think is not significantly better about the IQ from a D7100 vs a D50?

For me, the dynamic range increase alone is enough to say the D7100 is better.

Or are you comparing the D7000 to the D7100?

In that case the IQ changes are less obvious, but 50% more MP and no anti-alias filter are important. But many of the differences are in the hardware making the camera more usable and useful.
