As a recently retired D300s owner, I've been leaning towards getting a D800 as a retirement gift to myself, but the D7100 has made me rethink that. I'm anxiously awaiting the first tests of the sensor, particularly on how well it compares to the D600. Resolution should be the same or slightly better I would think. That said, I still think there's a 50-50 chance we'll see a "D400" DX patterned off of the D800 announced by June. Whether I would be willing to pay another $500 or so for it, I'm not sure.
