Don't know about the D600, but the viewfinder on the D7000 is relatively small, so is hard to focus manually. Katzeye focusing screens helps a lot as well as the DK-21M magnifying eyepiece. Katzeye is better than focusingscreen.com. In the end, using the green dot on the D7000 is the most foolproof.
