Hi Vlad, After reading your post, I noticed that I could tighten the wheel screw until it clearly reached its limit and would tighten no further. I did not see the little green flash. Later, I took off the unit and put a piece of black electrical tape folded twice as a shim and got the little light flashing again at first. A second tightening of the wheelscrew, seemed to stop the flashing. So I guess it is okay.
The reason I am concerned about this is that I use a BlackRapid strap that is screwed into the tripod screw in the base. This puts a lot of stress on the base. So I am pondering only using the battery grip for certain occasions when I need the long battery life afforded by the grip. The rest of the time, I'll use the camera by itself without the grip because I really like the BlackRapid strap for walking around.
For what it's worth, a couple of testimonials about the Nikon battery grip have the same problem. So this Meike unit has been well made. We'll see if it holds up over time. Neill Proud to be a Montreal Nikonian http://picasaweb.google.com/NeillDGraham
