Hi Ken,

Welcome to Nikonians!
Which lens or lenses will you be using?
The Equipment tab in your User Profile is blank.
Please fill in your User Profile when you get a few minutes, It will help us answer your questions better. Thanks in advance!
Use AF-C Continuous AF mode.
If you can easily track your subject use a single AF point.
If you can track your subject but have trouble using a single AF point use Dynamic Area AF.
Depending on your subject you could try using Aperture (A) priority exposure mode with the Aperture wide open (smallest f/#).
Adjust the ISO to maitain a shutter speed of 1/500th sec. or faster if possible.
Remember to allow enough time for the AF system to lock on to your subject before you release the shutter.
Good Luck and Enjoy your Nikons!

Best Regards,
