I started shooting everything in RAW about two years ago and have never looked back. It gives you as much control over the final product as any option -- certainly more than setting WB and shooting JPEGS. In addition to offering the option to alter WB easily, your ability to correct for exposure problems is better as well. It does indeed take up storage space, which is now more evident than ever since I have added a D800 to the former D700-exclusive family.
