Soon after the tsunami in March, 2011, I bought a D700 refurbished from the Nikon USA Store. It came with about 22.5K shutter actuations. I assume Nikon checked it out thoroughly. It now has 23.6K actuations. Seems to me this may be different than a camera bought new that now has 23.6 actuations. No matter what, though, if two cameras are virtually identical, the one with substantially fewer actuations is going to be more desirable.
