At first I thought all these rumours were some kind of joke, although the D700 brochures looked pretty convincing. The usual pictures are all fake of course. But now even the serious guys like Thom Hogan are beginning to predict that there will be an announcement by Nikon next week. This and the brochure could mean that something like the D700 can be real after all. He says there will be a series of new products. Could mean a D3x (no surprises there), a D90 (no surprise either), some new lenses and of course a D700 which would be a huge surprise! An SB-900, if it is real, is nice but no big deal I would say. Don't know if Sony has anything to do with this but it seems to me like Sony's aggressive launches are shaking up the market. And when Nikon will announce a D700, Canon cannot hold still and will have to announce their 6D (which they must have coming somewhere this year) as well. An up to date affordable full frame camera in a 'normal' body is what many of us are looking for. If not for the ISO range, then at least for the wider angle and the knowledge that this will be a future proof camera/system.....well at least for a few months. Start selling your DX lenses!
