How does one use the Manual Focus though, as I think the thing should be focussing better?
As far as I recall I have always been using auto focus, and I only on rare occasions moved the focus point.
Are the slides you are scanning mounted in frames with anti-newton glass? I found that the quality of my scans were not comparable with my unmounted slides. For the sharpness I start out with 20, 10 & 3 in the settings.
Edit. Henbo- which is best 'bit depth'? 14?
I always scan at 14 bit as this will give me the best colour depth. I find that scanning is very time consuming, so I try to avoid that I need to go back and scan again. For the same reason I always scan at best quality (both bit depth and resolution) from the begining.
Beginning to think I might need to cal. my monitor. Some of the colours on the slides never appear on my screen to matter how I wiggle the sliders! The lovely brown colours from the caliche in AZ seem impossible to reproduce away from the slide. Or even to get close to.
When I did adjustment of the colours in Nikon Scan I most of the time started out with a slightly S-shaped curves setting.
Mind you. Kodachrome is very good.
I know, and still regret that I never tried out Kodachrome 25!
