Ian,

With my older Epson Perfection 4990 Photo (Epson's top-of-the-line precursor to the V700/750) you can scan all the film you put in the caddy at once, in a single pass. You'll need to take a long walk while it is working but it will do it without your intervention. And yes, if you make a lot of edits and especially if you process with ICE you might want to sit down and write a novel while you wait.
