Joseph -- Hang on to your hat on this one. I paid $19.00 to get priority support, and while I was waiting, I opened a .jpg, made a small adjustment and hit "save as." That brought up the dialog box that offers the "options" choice, and I chose nothing -- just hit the "save" choice, and lo-and-behold -- the jpg was NOT compressed to a factor of 20!

So the tech came on the phone, and assured me that's the way Paintshop Pro has ALWAYS worked. So (a) I solved my own issue (b) learned that PSP techs don't know from squat and (c) it cost me $19. I guess I could complain, but I'll just chalk it up to the cost of fixing stupid.

BTW -- I still have PSP X5 installed and confirmed that there was a way to set the default save function -- contrary to what the "expert" said. Go figure.

So again -- just make adjustments, hat "save as", then choose "save" and you images don't get smaller and smaller!
