After reading Brian's answer, I went to my old LR3.6 and opened images taken with the X10 and also the LX3. Small sensors... indeed I have been able to reproduce a strange grain on some images. But I usually sharpen very little, and with a masking (what is the last cursor called in English) really high, so only the high-contrast areas are sharpened, usually, borders and not surfaces...

Jetez un oeil à ma galerie if you feel like it! And it's a bit void as of now, but I also have a Nikonians blog

Auta i lomë! And my Nikon's only awaiting daylight...
